A Mid-Morning Break Sports Report |

Thanks for checking in at the "Coaches Corner”
Before we get to our regular thoughts.................can we simply ask?
What is with the people that are so much against the Gay Marriage proposal, and the building of the Muslim Mosque near (not at!) Ground Zero. Can we have just a little bit of tolerance and love for our fellow brother? Lighten up a bit folks! Let people do what they want to do as long as it doesn't hurt anybody else. Freedom of choice, and freedom of religion. Okay.....I will now get off my high horse. (e-mail us at mic2guys@aol.com if you would like to push us off the high horse)
At any rate, we thank everybody for listening and checking in at the website. We really do appreciate each and every follower.
Here are some thoughts from "The Coach" as we head into end of summer and fall sporting activities..... 1) Watching Uncle Lou manage the Cubs the last month and a half of the season might truly prove to be a painful experience. For Lou and for Us! Prescription drugs might not be enough.
2) Early Chicago Bear fever is running pretty high. My Bear temperature right now is a rising 99.7%. This team could be really good! Just hope Lovie stays out of the way.....and please let Mike Tice give the pregame speech! |

3) Golf Majors come to a close for 2010, with a big win by the very modest and bashful Martin Kaymer. Great to see him win, But the controversy with Dustin Johnson and the 2 stroke penalty will live in infamy. To me....a bogus call! To take away a guys chance to win his first ever major---because he may have barely touched the sand. Please. Use some common sense. And in this case let- it -go!!!
4) College football on the horizon....I am psyched! Nothing like Saturday's and College football. I am rooting #1 for ABA this year (Anyone But Alabama ) but Bigg Dogg tells me not to worry. He says the Crimson Tide defense will not be up to snuff. My NU Cats we will see. a new QB is the key. If it is up to me- I will pay the fee and go to see, wearing my NU tee. (all of a sudden I am a poet. I have always had the latent poet gene in me....just waiting for it to be displayed )
5) Love Brett Farve the player. Hate Brett Farve the pre season soap opera. Next topic please
6) Baseball races could be good come late Sept. Red Sox on the chase trying to catch the Yankee or the Ray. Padres / Giants. Cardinal / Red (late charging Cub?...pass the drugs please and may I have another ? ) Braves / Phillies and of course our White Sox vs Twins. Strap yourself in and enjoy the ride. Should be fun! .....and remember your seat cushion can be used as a flotation device.
7) Went to Schaumberg Flyers game. $12 for best seat in house. room to stretch out. concessions where you don't have to wait more than 30 seconds. cheap eats and drinks. free parking. good people. quality baseball played by guys who have not been there and done that--but they are trying to get there and do that ! In short....a great time. Minor league baseball...very underrated as a sports experience! take the wife. take the kids. take the girlfriend. take all of the above. whatever...just go --it is a lot of fun.
8) Had a dream the other night that included Jay Cutler.....but he had the Hair of Rod Blagojevich. Not a good look! and don't ask me about the role Tino Pisatenoisamoa in this dream. ---- Be afraid....be very, very afraid
9) Patrick Kane with the Stanley Cup. Wow! The Stanley Cup security guy really earned his money that day. The kid does have a wild streak which hopefully will be kept under control in the off season. While he is at it. he could lend some of the "wild gene" to goalie Anti Niemi. Somewhere between those two there is a very happy middle ground.
.....and finally.....
10) Good luck to all the high school athletes out there! A new school year and a new sports year is almost upon us. For the athletes.....enjoy every moment because the time is fleeting. Cherish the memories, and live in the moment. And remember, the pain of defeat and the thrill of victory will quickly subside, while the relationships with your teammates and coaches will last a lifetime. As the song says....this truly is "The Time of your lives"
---coach WE GOT MORE THOUGHTS TO COME………..BUT FOR NOW….THAT IS OUR COACHES CORNER
